Westboro Photonics Smart Series imaging photometers are offered with a choice of between 2.3 to 12.3 Megapixel CMOS sensors for the measurement of 2D luminance, illuminance and view angle. The Smart series employs advanced CMOS sensors for higher speeds, lower noise and a wider dynamic range for applications in automotive and avionics displays and controls, in vehicle lighting, near-to-eye displays, flat panel displays, lit area uniformity of lighting products and in projected beam pattern analysis of lamps and LEDs. Westboro Photonics is an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited calibration laboratory, being the first company in the world to be accredited for the calibration of imaging light meters, as distinct from spot photometers.

Measurement Capabilities
The following photometric and radiometric parameters can be measured using a Smart series CMOS imaging photometer:
Matched Lenses
Each photometer has a lens that is matched to the sensor resolution and size, providing optimally crisp and clear images. By matching a lens to a particular sensor, the images created using a Westboro photometer can be of a higher quality than supposedly higher resolution cameras without matched lenses. Standard lenses offer fields of view from 10˚ to as much as 82˚. Microscope lenses are available for pixel-level analysis, while near-to-eye lenses are also available for testing the displays on wearable AR devices. A conoscopic lens accessory is also available for display view angle testing.
Radiometric Capabilities
Upon request, a Smart series CMOS imaging photometer can be factory configured with a radiometric filter, which provides for measurements of irradiance and radiance. The radiometric filter replaces the standard photopic filter and extends the wavelength sensitivity of the camera to that of the CMOS sensor, 350-1000nm. Calibration of the imaging radiometer must be performed by the user with reference to a spot spectroradiometer which is used to measure the output from the device under test.
Superior Sensors
Using Sony’s latest Pregius® CMOS sensors, the photometric measurements are faster, more precise and more sensitive than previously possible. The specifications for dynamic range, quantum efficiency, full well capacity, sensitivity and noise are all improved. The Pregius sensors also have markedly lower noise compared to the latest CCD sensors.
High Dynamic Range
As a result of the improved noise performance and large full well capacity, a single exposure measurement can reliably report a wider dynamic range of luminance values (>70dB). Up to 1,000,000:1 dynamic range can be acquired using HDR imaging methods.
Compact Design
Weighing just 300 grammes (with a typical lens) the photometer is easier and less costly to mount. Its small footprint allows for installation into tight spaces and the locking USB3 interface cables ensure reliable connectivity.
Capable Software
Photometrica® software and optional software packages provide extensive options for measurement and analysis. The software development kit (SDK) allows for the creation of fully customised solutions using built-in scripting or external control.
