Spectroradiometers

A spectroradiometer functions in a similar way to a radiometer, photometer or colorimeter but measurements are performed spectrally and the radiometric, photometric and colorimetric properties computed. For narrow band sources such as LEDs, discharge lamps, CFLs and LCDs, a spectroradiometric measurement yields more accurate results than those performed with a photometer. Also, spectral measurements are the only way to determine the colour rendering performance of a light source.

Spectroradiometers find application in all areas of light metrology, from LED lighting and display photometry to photobiological applications in blue light (Bilirubin) phototherapy, UVC germicidal radiometry and UVB erythemal dosimetry and to measurements of solar spectral irradiance. SphereOptics’ spectroradiometers are designed with input optics appropriate for measurements of spectral flux (using an integrating sphere), irradiance and radiant intensity (using a cosine response receiver) and radiance (using spot viewing optics).
