Clean reflectance standards. Precise measurement results.
Wavelength Calibration Standards SphereOptics

Optical reflectance standards are the basis for reliable measurements. However, only flawless standards deliver precise measurement results. Even the smallest amounts of contamination, such as dust, fingerprints or other impurities, can significantly alter the reflective properties of the material and distort your measurement results.

The following example shows a clear difference: a contaminated 99% reflectance standard (orange spectrum) delivers visibly lower reflection values than a clean reference standard (blue spectrum). The result: less accuracy, less reproducibility, less confidence in your measurement data.

Handling recommendations

To obtain accurate measurement results for as long as possible, we recommend the following measures:

• Where possible, reflection standards should always be touched on the outside and with gloves to avoid contamination or scratches on the surface. Standards supplied in cans can be handled carefully on the outside of the can without gloves.

• If the standards are only packaged in glassine bags, please remove them with gloves and try not to touch the surface.

For calibrated standards, our handling recommendations can also be found on the enclosed calibration certificate.

Regular recalibration

Replace visibly dirty or damaged standards in good time. This is the only way to ensure that your measuring systems continue to work accurately.

We recommend that you have your standards recalibrated by SphereOptics once a year. Recalibration takes place in our ISO 17025 accredited calibration laboratory. You will benefit from the following advantages:

Reliable measurements without unwanted deviations

Reproducible results for stable processes

Long-term measurement reliability thanks to well-maintained standards

We will be happy to advise you personally and assist you with recalibrating or replacing your reflection standards.
