Driven by rapidly evolving industry requirements to simplify research and development or quality control for fabric samples, the UV3000F is designed to comply with recently approved testing methods such as AATCC TM183 (2020), AS/NZS 4399:2017, AS 4399:2020, EN 13758-1:2002+A1:2007, EN 13758-1:2001+A1:2006, GB/T18830:2009, JIS L 1925:2019, and user defined methods.

Labsphere UV3000F – The benchmark for UPF testing of sun protection textiles

The UV3000F represents the new generation of in vitro measuring devices for evaluating the sun protection of textiles. As the successor to Labsphere’s proven systems, it offers significant improvements: fast measurement, extended spectral range from 280 to 500 nm (including UVA and UVB), enhanced software interface, and optimized reproducibility.

Fast, reliable, and compliant measurements

Thanks to its optimized xenon flash technology and Spectralon® integrating sphere, the UV3000F enables precise measurements of diffuse transmission in less than 5 seconds. Its spectrometer guarantees exceptional spectral stability and ensures reliable and reproducible results, test after test.

Compliance with international standards

The device supports all major standards for measuring the ultraviolet protection factor (UPF), including:

  • AATCC TM183 (2020)
  • AS/NZS 4399:2017, AS 4399:2020
  • EN 13758-1:2002+A1:2007
  • GB/T 18830:2009
  • JIS L 1925:2019
  • as well as user-defined methods.

Intuitive software and comprehensive reporting

Developed using .NET Framework and compatible with Windows 11, the integrated software offers menu navigation, configurable reports with archiving and data export. It includes a method for on-site performance validation thanks to a validation kit supplied with the product, which increases the efficiency of the process by more than 75%.

Ready to use, robust, and scalable

The UV3000F comes complete with control software and a validation filter kit and is designed for immediate use in the laboratory. Its robust industrial design and ease of use make it the ideal tool for textile research and development as well as quality control.

Training courses

SphereOptics offers on-site installation and operator training for the UV3000F and its software, available at an additional cost.

The UV3000F enables textile manufacturers and laboratories to quickly and accurately qualify the UV performance of their sun protection fabrics while ensuring global regulatory compliance.

Evaluation of sun protection in textiles and technical clothing

  • Determination of the ultraviolet protection factor (UPF): for fabrics with a protection factor of up to 70+.
  • UVA, UVB, and UVA/UVB ratio analysis: to ensure effective protection across the entire UV spectrum.
  • Measurement of the critical wavelength: essential for labeling clothing with “broadband protection.”
  • Spectral transmission up to 500 nm (including HEVIS): to evaluate the ability of textiles to block high-energy blue light, which can cause long-term skin damage.

The Labsphere UV3000F complies with the following international standards for testing sun protection fabrics:

  • AATCC TM183 (2020): American reference method for measuring the UPF of textiles.
  • AS/NZS 4399:2017 & AS 4399:2020: Australian and New Zealand standards for sun protection clothing.
  • EN 13758-1:2002+A1:2007: European standard for the UPF classification of textiles.
  • GB/T 18830:2009: Chinese standard for UV protection of fabrics.
  • JIS L 1925:2019: Japanese standard for the performance of UV-protective textiles.
  • Customizable methods: Possibility of applying in-house protocols for specific R&D or market requirements.
