The LightTester 100/160 family from SSL Resource is a range of versatile, semi-automated test stations for quality control testing of luminaires during production, reporting on key photometric, colorimetric and electrical safety parameters. With a sequence time of under 10 seconds, a LightTester QC test station is suitable for a 100% testing regime. The LightTester system is supplied as a complete, “out-of-the-box” solution, including a test station table, test computer with software and all photometric and electric test equipment. The LightTester can be supplied either as a standalone unit (ST models) or integrated into a production assembly line (PL models).

SSL LightTester LT-100 & LT-160 Photometry QC Test Station Overview

The LightTester 100/160 family from SSL Resource is a range of versatile, semi-automated test stations for quality control testing of luminaires during production, reporting on key photometric, colorimetric and electrical safety parameters.

LightTester 100 (maximum size of luminaire 90cm) and LightTester 160 (maximum size of luminaire 1.6m) are versatile test stations for quality control of luminaires during production. The verification of most important photometric values (such as lumens, CCT etc.) and electrical safety has been integrated into one single test unit.  The testing sequence time is < 10 seconds, so the LightTester 100 and 160 are suitable for a 100% testing scheme.

The LightTester system is supplied as a complete, “out-of-the-box” solution, including a test station table, test computer with software and all photometric and electric test equipment. The LightTester can be supplied either as a standalone unit (ST models) or integrated into a production assembly line (PL models).

Measurement Parameters

The main photometric parameter reported by a LightTester QC system is the luminous flux of the luminaire in units of lumens. The lumen value is derived from a direct measurement of illuminance, scaled to a flux reading with reference to a “golden” sample that has been measured separately in an integrating sphere or using a goniophotometer. Flicker characteristics and DALI dimmer performance of the device under test can be added as optional extras. The lit area luminance of the luminaire can also be added to the measurement suite.

Colorimetrically, LightTester reports the correlated colour temperature (CCT) in units of Kelvin. Optionally, LightTester can also be configured to report on the colour rendering index (CRI) and PAR radiometric output.

The mandatory electrical safety parameters assessed by the LightTester system are the ground bond (GB) and the insulation resistance (IR), both reported in units of Ohms. Optionally, LightTester can also report on the electrical power consumed, as well as the supply voltage and current, power factor and surge current.

Software

The LightTester software provides a password protected “engineer” mode as well as an “operator” mode with a simplified user interface. The software can be programmed to provide simplified pass/fail reporting for each type of luminaire and for each measurement parameter. All measurement values are stored within a database.

Standalone LightTester incorporating a laboratory-grade colorimeter for the measurement of luminous flux (lumens) and CCT (Kelvin). Test distance @ 1.45m. Test station is mounted on locking castors and features an integrated light curtain for operator safety. Test bench incorporates a wooden tabletop, computer with LT software, a display and keyboard holder and 19” rack integration of DC & AC power electronics. Mounting adaptors for downlighters and park lights are included.
