Piezoelectric Motors

Nanomotion has developed a patented technology: ultrasonic piezoelectric stationary motors that allow unlimited linear or rotary motion. This system transmits a movement without noise and can operate in hostile conditions while reaching the highest level of precison on the position. The wide range of Nanomotion motors can meet your needs for a closed servo control loop, a drive motion control system, but also for optronic applications where small size and low power motors are more suitable.

EDGE Motor

Nanomotion’s EDGE motor is the smallest industrial motor of its kind available in the marketplace today. Optimised for Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) providing unlimited linear or rotary motion, the EDGE motor offers extensive opportunities for applications in a wide range of industries. The EDGE motor can be easily integrated into most bearing structures and is ideal for mass production and OEM opportunities.

  • Smallest operating footprint
  • Weight: 0.55 g
  • Maximum velocity (no load): 150 mm/s
  • Dynamic stall force: 0.3 N
  • Static hold force: 0.3 N
  • Attainable resolution: 0.5 µm
  • Zero backlash and holds position at power off
  • Silent operation
  • Non-magnetic and negligible EMI

EDGE-4X Motor

The EDGE-4X motor expands the Nanomotion’s product line of low-voltage piezo motors, bringing 4 times the force of the Edge motor. The EDGE-4X provides up to 1.3N force with unlimited travel for linear or rotary applications. Continuing to optimise size, weight and power, the EDGE-4X is well suited to the following applications: auto focus and zoom, pan and tilt platforms and gimbals, optical image stabilisation modules.

  • Smallest operating footprint
  • Weight: 2.2 g
  • Maximum velocity (no load): 200 mm/s
  • Dynamic stall force: 1.3 N
  • Static hold force: 1.2 N
  • Attainable resolution: 0.5 µm
  • Zero backlash and holds position at power off
  • Silent operation
  • Non-magnetic and negligible EMI

HR Series Motors

The HR Series motors are high precision ceramic motors available in configurations with 1, 2, 4 and 8 elements, designed and manufactured by Nanomotion. The HR Series combines unlimited travel range with high resolution and compact dimensions. The HR Series motors are available in standard, non-magnetic, vacuum, and UHV configurations.

  • Linear and rotary applications
  • Excellent move and settle
  • Wide dynamic velocity range: 1 µm/s to 250 mm/s
  • Dynamic stall force: up to 32 N
  • Minimum increment: <10 nm
  • HV and UHV versions available
  • Zero backlash and holds position at power off
  • Silent operation
  • Non-magnetic and negligible EMI

LS Series Motors

The LS series engines are available in 2, 4 or 8-element configurations and offer unique servo performance at lower speeds with exceptional constant velocity. The LS Series is well suited to high step/repeat applications such as auto focus, where small steps are required over a long period of time.

  • Unlimited travel
  • Excellent move and settle
  • Maximum velocity: 20 mm/s
  • Exceptional velocity stability at low velocities
  • Dynamic stall force: up to 32 N
  • Minimum increment: <20 nm
  • HV and UHV versions available
  • Zero backlash and holds position at power off
  • Silent operation
  • Non-magnetic and negligible EMI

ST Series Motors

Nanomotion’s ST series motor is one of the smallest motors of its kind and provides high resolution motion control for linear or rotary devices in a fraction of the space of traditional mechanisms. The ST is ideal for small stepping as well as continuous travel, with the ability to make sub-micron step increments and the ability to operate at speeds up to 250mm/s. The ST series is available in standard and vacuum configurations.

  • The smallest standard Piezo-Electric package
  • Excellent move and settle
  • Unlimited travel
  • Wide dynamic velocity range: 1 µm/s to 250 mm/s
  • Dynamic stall force: 1.2 N
  • Static hold force: 1N

SE Series Motors

The SE series of motors are high precision ceramic motors. The SE motors combine unlimited stroke with high position resolution, in compact dimensions. The improved heat dissipation mechanisms can dissipate heat generated in order to avoid overheating. An improved envelope of performance (EOP) allows higher duty cycles and longer continuous operation in HV and UHV applications.
